1、免談! No need to discuss!

(No need for discussion.)

e.g. It’s all settled. There’s no need to discuss it anymore.

全都確定了。所以就免談了!

 

2、真棒! That’s great!

 

3、好險! That was close!

這裡的close是很接近、幸好的意思,和開門關門(open and close)的close不同。另外也有親近的意思。

e.g. I’m so glad you made it. That was close!

 

4、閉嘴! Shut up!

 

5、好爛! It sucks!

這句話可用來形容人、事物的狀況令人失望或十分不理想。

e.g. That sucks. Don’t buy it.

 

6、活該!

It serves you right!

= you deserve (he/she deserves it.)

e.g You failed the test?

That serves you right for not studying!

 

7、活該! You had it coming!
e.g.

a: I gained weight!

我體重增加了!

b: Well, you had it coming, because you’ve been eating so much without exercising.

當然,你活該,因為你吃那麼多又不運動。

 

8、胡鬧

That’s monkey business!

=Stop monkeying around!

後句把monkey當成動詞。

e.g. Stop fooling around!

That’s monkey business!

別再混日子了!你根本在胡鬧嘛!

 

9、請便!

Help yourself. Do as you please.

(表示不需准許而可取東西,就是請客人自在點,不必太拘束。)

 

10、哪有?

What do you mean “not at all”?

如果只說”What do you mean?”

那是不帶任何用意的問句,只是想問清楚對方的意思;但是它也可用于挑釁及威脅,代表不滿對方表達的意見。

若加上“not at all”,表示你在否認對方表達的意思。

“yeah,right”常用在諷刺性的回答。

“as if”大多是10到17歲女孩的用語e.g.

a:Today’s test was very easy.

b: Yeah, right!

a: He thinks he can socialize with us! As if!

他自認可以跟我們交往! 才怪!

13、幼稚! Immature!

e.g. She’s still sleeping with her favorite stuffed animals.

She’s so immature. What a baby!

e.g. Look at her, still buying “hello kitty” stuff at age 30.

What a baby!

What a baby! 這句話對美國人來說侮辱的程度比較大。

 

14、花癡! Flirt!

e.g. You are such a flirt! Stop kissing up to him! He doesn’t like you at all.

你是花癡喔?別再討好他了。

他根本不喜歡你。

Ps. 不論男女,凡有如此行為的皆可用flirt表示。

player(調情高手)專指男性,tease(賣弄風情的女人)專指女性。

 

15、痞子! riff raff!

e.g. These people give me the creeps. Riff raff!

這些人使我起雞皮疙瘩。真是一群痞子!

Ps. 在美國 riff raff 特別指人骯臟、下流。

 

16、找死! Playing with fire!

e.g. Are you crazy? You’re playing with fire!

這是表示某人在做的事很危險或很有挑戰性。

 

17、加油! Go for it!

=Give it a good try.

=Try your best.

e.g. Go for it! You can do it!

 

18、夠了! Enough! Stop it!

也可以加強語氣說

“Enough is enough!”

要是對方正在 fooling around(無所事事),可以說 “Enough of this foolishness!”(混夠了吧!)

 

19、放心! I got your back.

=I’m behind you.

e.g. Don’t worry, man. I got your back. 

這句原本來自“I’m covering you from behind”(我在後面掩護你),是打仗時軍人常說的一句話。但在現代的意思是我會照料一切,要對方不必擔心,所以這句男人會常用,女人反而較少用。

 

20、愛現! Showoff!

e.g. He’s been doing that all day. What a showoff !

showoff是名詞,也可作動詞,如:He likes to show off her toys. 或He is always showing off his strength.

 

21、討厭! So annoying!

e.g. Stop that!

You are so annoying!

夠了!你真討厭!

 

22、色狼! Pervert!

e.g. He is such a pervert!

I saw him looking at me in the toilet!

這句話除了指性變態(名詞),也指精神變態,可簡單地說”perv”,也可作動詞,例如:

“You are rally perverted.” 。

 

23、精彩! Super!

e.g. Good job. That’s super!

年輕人喜歡在形容詞前面加super以強調它的意思,如“super-cool”。

 

24、算了! Forget it!

這句有“不談這件事了”,或“這沒什麼”的意思。

 

25、糟了! Shit!/ fuck!/ Damn!

e.g. Shit! This stinks!

糟了!這好臭!

注: 這些都是低俗的用語,Damn是其中最溫和的一個。

這些都是所謂的four-letter words。

 

26、廢話! Bullshit!

e.g.I don’t believe it.

That’s bullshit!

 

這句也可用crap來表示,它的語氣比較溫和,但還是一樣無禮。

 

27、變態! Pervert!

e.g. Let’s get out of here. There are so many perverts here.

注:中文的變態從意思來看,其實比英文的pervert語意厭惡許多。

 

28、吹牛! Brag.

e.g. He’s bragging.

There’s no way he could do that!

 

29、裝傻! Play dumb.
e.g. Don’t play dumb. You know about that.

 

30、偏心/偏見。

Biased.  偏心

prejudiced. 偏見

e.g. Stop saying those things about it.

You’re just biased.

不要再這樣說它了,你就是偏心。

A:He’s so prejudiced.

He helps her just because he likes her.

注:prejudice本意就是負面的,常用來職責對方不公正, bias則是中性字,如“The author has a bias for apple pie”(這個作家對蘋果派有所偏好)。

 

31、無恥! Shameless!

e.g. How could you do such a thing! You’re shameless!

這種事你也做得出來!你無恥!

Shameless 和 no shame不同,no shame是not scared of being

shameful,不怕丟臉的意思。

 

32、你說呢? So what?

You tell me!

e.g. You are such a bad person.

Who’s gonna like you?

B: So what?

e.g. What are we going to do?

B: You tell me!

說“So what”時,若語氣冷淡,則表示不在乎;若語氣帶挑釁,則表示不要人干涉,有“你管我 ”“那又怎樣”的意思。

 

33、別傻了! Wise up!

Don’t be silly!

e.g. Please, you believe that?

Wise up!

e.g. I think we can get everyone to give us money.

B: Don’t be silly.

Ps. 當女孩子說“Don’t be silly”時,大多是在打情罵俏。

 

34、別鬧了! Keep it down!

e.g. You kids are too loud! Keep it down!

注:Keep it down是不要鬧了,但keep it up 意思完全不同,是用來勉勵對方繼續努力下去。

如果 keep it up!用威嚇的語氣說就變成:若繼續下去后果就不堪設想
(你再給我試試看!)。

 

35、不許碰!

Don’t touch it! / Hands off!

 

36、膽小鬼!

Coward!Chicken!

e.g. He dare not do it!

What a coward!

 

37、考慮中!

Sitting on the fence。

e.g. I haven’t decided what to do.

I’m sitting on the fence.

表示此人的決定仍搖擺不定,隨時會受人影響。

 

38、認輸吧! Give in!

放棄吧! Give it up!

e.g. Give in! You won’t have a chance.

也可用“give it up!”,意即“不要再試了,你只是在浪費時間”。

 

39、搶劫啊! Rip off!

e.g. That shirt cost me $3,000!

What a rip-off!

rip當名詞也可當動詞,所以可說:

He really ripped me off.

Don’t rush me.

e.g. I’m on it! Don’t rush me.

別催我!我正在做呢!

Good job. / Well done!

 

43、真划算。

What a great deal!

= What a bargain!

e.g. I got two bikes for the price of one. What a great deal!

這裡的deal是指買賣交易。

在其他情況中

都是在詢問“怎麼了?”。

= That’s a good idea.
e.g.

That won’t happen, will it?

e.g. He will win the game. That won’t happen, will it?

No, she’s not like that, is she?

e.g. Are you sure she stole the jewels? No, she’s not like that, is she?

不會吧? No, it won’t, will it?

e.g. A: He may not have much longer to live.

B: No, he won’t die, will he?

不會吧?

No way! = Be smart!後者回答較禮貌一點。

 

51、起內哄。

Fighting one’s own. 

=In-fighting.

e.g. That company wasted too much time fighting its own.

I won’t tolerate this in-fighting!

 

52、 狗屎運! Lucky bastard!

e.g. He won the lottery! Lucky bastard!

 

53、沒風度。 Crass.

vulgar = boorish

也可以用來形容別人沒風度。

e.g. He’s so crass. There’s no way I would date him.

e.g.

It’ll cheer you up.

= What a pity

= Whatever.

e.g. Stop making so much noise! Behave.

年輕人用這句話的時候,多是在鬧著玩的情況下,要對方“安分點”;男女朋友在打情罵俏時也會叫對方“安分”一點。

We’ll talk about it later.

 

59、分手吧! Let’s break up.

 

60、你看吧! I told you so!

= See!

e.g. I told you so!

It won’t work See!

e.g. Like I said, it’s not as hard as you thought it’d be. See!

本句除了用shameless外,也可用“She has no shame.”。

Don’t worry about it.

= Don’t pay attention to it.

e.g. I don’t want to look bad.

B: Don’t worry about it. No one will notice. Don’t pay attention to it.

e.g.

A:That guy over there is staring at me.

B: Don’t play attention to it.

 

63、怎麼說? How do I say this?

e.g. It’s so hard to explain.

How do I say this? What do you mean?

e.g.

That’s so gross!

”Blood and gore”多半是指電影而言,而”gross”在一般的情況下都可使用。

= (Do you) know what I mean?

= know what I’m saying?

= You know ?

e.g. We broke up two months ago! Stop calling me. Do you get it?

e.g. That’s the way it is. ( Do you ) know What I mean? You know?

= Stop playing. 

e.g. I know you hate it. Stop pretending.

這字暗示某人精神失常,行為反常;年輕人的俚語常以”mentally challenged” 代替crazy。

e.g. I want to make sure that I get it straight.

B: There’s no need. Forget it.
注: “no need”可自成一句,也可在句中使用。如:There was no need to call the president.

That’s typical.

Treat也作動詞用,如:I’ll treat you tonight. (今晚我請客。)

生氣時在口語上詛咒別人去死前面有時會加上”you can”。

e.g. you’re such a bully. Go to hell.

e.g. It will never happen again. I swear!

swear 還有下列用法:

① I swear by my bike that I can get anywhere in town in 15minutes. (swear by…, 對著…發誓,表示很有信心)。

② The chief of justice swore in the president. (司法院長監督總統宣誓就職)。

③ I’m going to swear off candy for the next month. (下個月我要戒吃糖果)。

 

79、來單挑!

Let’s fight one-on-one!

e.g. let’s go, you and me, let’s fight one-on-one.

B: All right, leave the others alone. It’s between you and me.

 

80、正經點!

Have some decency!

Seriously!

說這兩句話的情況不同,”have some decency”通常是在對方有了一些惡作劇的行為之后,用來提醒他舉止莊重一點。”Seriously…”則多用來轉變話題,跟中文的”說真格的……”類似,說完這句話,說者就把話題轉為嚴肅的內容。

e.g. Stop playing with the cake. Have some decency! Seriously…

e.g. Ok, stop joking around. Seriously …

Excuse me for bothering you.

因為文化的差異,美國人很少有這種說法,大部分的美國人都不認為要說這麼謙虛的話。

Wake up! 

Wake up and smell the coffee!

注:酒醉或吃藥後,多會用”Sober up”。”Wake up!”或”Wake up and smell the
coffee!”則是”腦袋裡在想什么呀,醒醒吧你!”用來訓斥別人面對現實。

e.g. Your parents are coming. Sober up.

e.g. Wake up! You look like you had a long night.

清醒點,你看起來像是整夜沒睡。

forget him是”別理他!”,而”別理我!”是leave me alone。

e.g. Don’t mind him. He’s just playing. Forget him.

e.g. He saw me steal the diamond!

B: Forget him. I’ll take care of him.

going out for a drive 是開車或騎車出去。going out for some air 除了開車或騎車,也可表示用走來散心。

我覺得有被困在這的感覺。咱們兜風去吧!

Let’s go out for some air!

e.g. We’ve been studying all day. Let’s go out for some air!

B: How low-class! (通常不在當事人面前講這句話)

let it be通常語氣和緩,以安慰別人或使人平靜。

注:有些用Beeswax代替Business。

e.g. Have you seen that movie “Friday the 13th”? It’s so sick.

 

97、小氣鬼! Stingy bastard!

e.g. He didn’t even pay for my dinner!

What a stingy bastard.What a miser!

e.g. He’s been wearing the same clothes since high school. What a miser! Can’t he buy new clothes?

注:stingy bastard語氣很刻薄,因為”bastard”已經近乎粗話了。Stingy 是形容詞,小氣,吝嗇之意 Miser是名詞。

 

98、 我招了! I admit…

e.g. Yeah, you’re right. OK, I admit it!

注:本句用來當作爭論失敗得聲明,或者用來表示道歉。

 

99、別惹我! Don’t bother me.

e.g. Ok, I’ll do whatever you want. But just don’t bother me anymore.

Stop picking on me.

e.g. Can you stop picking on me? 你能不能別再惹我?

注:Bother 意思是阻撓,困擾,或對某人嘮叨。To pick on someone是指作弄人,找人麻煩。

 

100、沒什麼。 Not much…

e.g. Hey! What’s up!
B: Not much…

 

101、答對了。 Bingo! 

You are right!

 

102、 改天吧! Another time…

e.g. Let’s go out again tomorrow night.

B: Maybe another time…I’ll take a rain check.

e.g. I’ll take you out to dinner.
B: I can’t tonight, but I’ll take a rain check.

注:rain check本意來自比賽因下雨而取消,所發給觀眾下次入場得延期證明;或是商店再減價時段特價品賣完時,發給客人在有貨時可以相同優惠購買該商品得證明。

 

103、我不管! I don’t care!

e.g. But your rival has everyone’s favor…

B: I don’t care! I’m going to beat him. Just watch.

注:I don’t give a damn! =I don’t care. 但是更粗俗一些。

 

104、別多嘴。 Enough! Shut up!

 

105、有眼光! Good taste.

e.g. That looks really good. You’ve got good taste.

 

106、誰說的? Who said that?

e.g. It’s not like that at all. Who said that? Says who?

e.g. They cancelled our show.
B: Says who?

這兩句話除了可用來詢問是什么人說的,它的意思多半是用來否認所聽到的消息。

表示不清楚、不確定而難下定論。

To tell you the truth (that…)

Honestly…

 

109、你撒謊! You lie!

 

110、真惡心! So disgusting!

 

111、真礙眼!

Rubs me the wrong way.

e.g. I can’t put my finger on it, but he really rubs me the wrong way.

我說不上來,但他真礙眼!

注:說這句話時通常有人惹到你,但也可能只是因為某人的外貌、言行令人不舒服。

 

112、別想溜! Don’t run away!

注:run away也可指閃避問題,如:”Don’t run away from your problems. ” 是要對方面對,并解決問題。

 

113、不客氣。 You’re welcome.

No problem.

No bother.

Don’t worry about it.

Don’t mention it.

 

114、 不上道。

Don’t know how to play the game.

e.g. Everyone accepted the bribe except him. He doesn’t know how to play the game.

注:這是現代的俚語。有一句Playing the field,它的意思就大不一樣了,是表示同時跟很多不同的人約會。

 

115、 耍大牌。 Poser!

e.g. Who does she think she is? A movie star? What a poser!

 

116、 何必呢? What for?

e.g. I want to go back to school.
B: What for? You already have a Ph D! Why are you doing that?

e.g. You have all the toys you need. Why are you buying more? Why are you doing that?

注:依說話的語氣,意思可能是刻薄的反諷,好奇的詢問,或是冷漠不想搭理對方。

e.g. Did you see the way she touches him? So affectionate!

注:另外一種口語用法是”lovey-duvvy”,但是比較負面,含有受不了別人如此親熱的意思。

(這句話十分粗俗,用生氣或厭惡的語氣說,有“滾你的媽媽的蛋”之意。看電影常聽到。)

 

125、 分攤吧!各付各的。

Let’s go Dutch.

 

126、 你做夢!別肖想。

You’re dreaming.

In your dreams.

e.g. That will never happen. You’re dreaming.

“Dream on!”意思也是一樣,另外多了點玩笑的態度。

e.g. You’re so lame. Even a kid can make it. Try again.

注:Lame 原來的意思是跛腳、不適當的意思。在這指人不夠酷、無能。

注:本句得相反詞就是名落孫山, “just missed it”。

注:後者批評對方對情況或事情的不了解,不清楚。

相反的就是”hard to please”(很難伺候)

Bad influence (on the kids).

e.g. What a scrooge! He didn’t even buy presents for them on Christmas!

注:Scrooge這個字是從迪更斯的小說”小氣財神”中的人物而來,也是圣誕頌歌中的一個主要角色。

 

145、不識抬舉。

You just don’t appreciate it.

e.g. You don’t know when a good thing’s right in front of you. You just don’t appreciate it.

注:appreciate (欣賞), 相反詞是”scorn(藐視)”,”disparage(貶抑)”

Pardon me? 

Excuse me?”

Could you repeat that please?

會say again是口頭上,私下聊天時的用法。正式一點的像是”Pardon me? ” “Excuse me?”, 或是”Could you repeat that please?”, 會比較有禮貌。

通常是事情出乎意料之外,而且多半是朝不好的方面發展。

本句是指人大膽、無禮的行為。

I’m dead meat.

注:以上兩句都是十分誇張的句子,表示真的不知如何是好。

You’ll be the death of me. ”

意思是指你和你惹的麻煩會毀了我。
